Celebrating 6 Years!!

Last night Rob and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. For the last 4 years we have taken a big trip to celebrate but this year we stayed here for a couple of reasons. First off, we are in our 6th week of Financial Peace University at church so a big trip just did not fit into our "Cash Flow Planning." Dave Ramsey would not have approved. HA! Also, we have already spent a week in Walt Disney World and a week in Gulf Shores so far this year and we are going back to Gulf Shores in November so needless to say, we just stayed close to home! I'm not going to lie - I was a little bummed out about it at first - I mean we have had some awesome anniversary trips - Tampa, Las Vegas TWICE, and cruised to Mexico. Yes I know, I'm a brat! I got over it though!

Rob always knows how to make things special....leave it to him! We started out at the movies and saw

The movie wasn't really what we were expecting but it was a very sweet movie. I love anything with Jennifer Aniston so I was a happy girl! I would recommend it....it can get a little slow but the message is awesome!

After the movie we had dinner at Connor's, of course. No matter what I get there, it is unbelievable! I guess we were so excited about our food that I didn't even pull out the camera. Rob had the Boursin Filet which is always wonderful and I had the crab-encrusted tilapia! YUMMY! They needed our table to accomodate a big party so they offered us free dessert! LOVE IT!!! So, Rob got the upside down German chocolate cake and I got the Italian duo which included tiramisu and almond cream cake. Thanks to Connor's website for these delicious pics! Hungry yet?

We got our dessert to go since we were stuffed! We took it back to the Westin where Rob had gotten us a room! If you are familiar with Bridgestreet in Huntsville, you know that the Westin is attached to the shopping and restaurants. It was so nice to just step out of the room and have so much to do. We were upgraded to a suite which was beautiful and looked out over Bridgestreet.

The suite was beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a night out without spending a fortune. When we got back from dinner I found thisI mean seriously what girl would not LOVE this? It was an amazing night out with no stress, no worries, and no thinking! Thanks to my amazing husband for being romantic even if we didn't leave Madison County! :)

By the way, Rob wasn't the only good person last night though! He did get to watch the last half of the Auburn game in the room.......pretty nice of me huh?

Happy Anniversary!

Six years ago Rob and I walked down the aisle and committed ourselves to each other in front of our families, friends, and God. I never imagined that I could love Rob any more than I did on that day. But each day that passes I love him and appreciate him more and more. Rob is the most patient and understanding person I have ever known and his ability to see the positive in any situation truly inspires me.

Over the past year, Rob and I have been trying to get pregnant with no luck, yet. Though some days are extremely sad and emotional, the fact that Rob is by my side, reminds me of the many blessings that I already have. This year has not only brought us closer in our marriage, but has also encouraged us in our faith. Though we, of course, have bumps in the road sometimes, our marriage continues to strengthen and grow, and for that we are blessed beyond measure.

I try to remind myself of how blessed I am to have such a loving, caring, respectful, giving, kind, warm, and all around wonderful husband that God has blessed me with. Though we don't know what the future holds in the way of children, I pray that God does bless us with a child or children. No child would be luckier than to have Rob as his/her father.

So far in our marriage, we have had so many awesome adventures and memories and I look forward to seeing what else is in store for us!

Happy Anniversary Rob! I love you SO much!!

Show Us Your Life - Childhood Photos

Kelly's Korner did the Childhood Photos week of Show Us Your Life a couple of weeks ago. I had chosen some pictures while visiting my parents a few weeks ago but forgot to pack them in the car when we left. So, this weekend my mom came up to my house and remembered to bring them so better late than never!

I didn't dig really deep in all of my mom's photos so I only picked out a few (and some that I saw will NEVER be put online for the whole world to see......I mean, c'mon). The first one shows you how much my mother hated me. No, just kidding! I guess in the early '80s this was fashionable. That is really hard for me to believe but that's what my mom has told me.Can I just say that I HATED knee socks but my mother thought they were adorable. She would put them on me in the morning and as soon as I would get to daycare or school I would roll them down! Even then I was so much cooler than her! HA! And check out the shoes........was it the '50s? This was a daycare picture so I'm thinking it was 1984. And is it just me or are my pigtails uneven? I hated getting my hair fixed, so they are probably crooked!

Now on to more professional photos. I think in these I was either 4 or 5 so I'm thinking 1985 or 1986. Two of my cousins and I all went to see Ray Hathorn (who I believe still does professional photography but now lives on the coast). I really thought I was something with wardrobe changes and poses. This was so out of my Olan Mills norm! HA!

This bear is Leonard and I still have him in storage today! Leonard was my best friend and still looks practically new. Seriously, how cute is this picture?

Of course, I did warm up to the camera when I realized how cute I was! :)

Not really sure what this pose is? But holding my mouth like that was the reason I had to wear braces for two years because of a serious overbite! :)
This pic is from first or second grade:

Notice at this point the hair has gotten darker and the freckles have started coming out! These are the only pics that I dug out. From middle school on, I pretty much looked the same as I do now, except for hair. If Kelly does a hair post, that could just get ugly!!! I had some HORRIBLE hair-dos!!! Thank goodness for modern technology, my hair is now blessed with a straightener each day!
I hope you enjoy these pics of my childhood!

Pumpkins, Polka Dots, and Monograms, Oh My!

Now that Labor Day is almost over, it's unofficially fall! Well in my house it IS fall!! To me, once you start watching football, it is summer no longer. I'm not usually a big decorator for Halloween since it isn't one of my favorite holidays. I do decorate for fall though since it is my FAVORITE time of year! This year, however, I decided to decorate for Halloween. I have seen a lot of ideas on blogs and in magazines so today I got my crafty juices flowing and got to work. First up, my "BOO" sign. How cute is this damask paper..........a little gothic, huh? I bought the paper at Michael's today along with the frame. I'm excited to see what else I can do with the frame after Halloween. I'm thinking some initials!!!!!!!!!! (I know, shocking)

No Halloween is complete without pumpkins. But mine definitely aren't classic. I had some craft pumpkins left over from last years' fall decorations. After a little spray paint and acrylic paint, now I have these. I got these candle sticks at Kirkland's last week for $9.99.

And no project is complete until there is a monogram involved! ;)

And here's the finished product

I'm really not sure why it looks like we have a grid ceiling....we don't! :)
So what do ya think? I like that it is fun without being over the top Halloween-y (yup I said Halloween-y).

Happy Birthday Jackson!

My friend Brittany's son, Jackson celebrated his first birthday this weekend! Brittany and her husband just moved into a new house, which is ADORABLE. She is just one of those people who can make any room look like it came straight out of a "Pottery Barn" catalog. I WISH I was that talented. If it wouldn't have looked ridiculous, I SO would have walked in every room and taken a picture so you guys could really get what I'm saying. Maybe another day Brittany will let me take pics of her house. :)

Brittany and I used to work together, in fact, she was my right hand. I don't get to see her as often as I would like, but when we do see each other, it doesn't feel like it has been long at all. I still e-mail and text her often just to keep her up to date on what's going on! She and I think alike in many ways so I can always count on her to listen to me vent and know exactly where I'm coming from! It's amazing how God puts certain people in your life for certain reasons.

Jackson likes Mickey Mouse (yes, a child after my own heart) and his birthday was themed around it. However, I'm so impressed with how Brittany decorated for the party. It was Mickey Mouse themed but not over the top in the cheesy department (which she said was her goal). :) She just amazes me with her creativity!!

The birthday table had this cute balloon arrangement and was so cute. She had used a black and white polka dot table cloth on the table and a red with white polka dots on top of it to incorporate the black, red and white of Mickey Mouse.

And this was the birthday cake. I absolutely loved the polka dots. See the little buckets on the other side of the cake.......

Well those buckets held the cake. How cute is that? (Notice the tablecloths that I mentioned)

And here is the most important part of the party:

Jackson enjoyed the cake until he hit himself in the face with a spoon. He is adorable and gets cuter each time I see him! Happy Birthday Jackson!
