Doctor, Doctor

Rob had his rotator cuff surgery on Wednesday of this week. Everything went great and he should be as good as new after a few weeks of physical therapy. Thank you all for the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes!

Rob actually handled his surgery better than I did! Ridiculous, I know. After the nurse got him prepped for surgery, they called me back into the room so that I could sit with him until his surgery. When I went in the room, they were finishing up on him. I have this "issue" so that anytime I'm in a hospital room with lots of wires, needles, etc., I get really nauseated and weak in the knees. You know the feeling like you might pass out....the cold sweat, the cotton mouth, the ringing in the ears. Well it started happening! I had to open the door and ask someone to get me some water. The nurse came in and all she had was a pill cup so I got to "sip" water out of it and also put a cold cloth on my face. Meanwhile, poor Rob was busy worrying about me when the roles were supposed to be the other way!

Anyway, after my "episode" I was fine and the rest of the day I was the supportive wife and did so successfully, if I do say so. Rob made this role pretty easy though because he has been an excellent patient. He seems to be on the mend and life should be back to "normal" pretty soon!

Bad Hair DayS!

Wednesday was a rough day for me, one of the worst! ;) I was getting ready for work and realized that my flat iron was not heating up at all! Now, if you flat iron your hair on a daily basis you know where I'm coming from and how upsetting this is. I have been wanting a new straightener but couldn't really justify buying one since mine was still in working condition. Well, this week the old flat iron went on to straightener heaven so needless to say the last two days have not been my best hair days. Thank goodness, I didn't have much going on at work .

Tonight, I went to Ulta and bought myself a new Chi straightener......exciting, I know! Not only did I finally get a Chi flat iron....but it's a cute one too! Maybe this will help my motivation in the mornings....well at least for a few days! HA! Seriously, doesn't this flat iron just make you smile?

Just Some Randomness!

First off, I can't believe I haven't blogged since April 27th! It isn't even for the lack of things to blog about because we have actually been pretty busy lately. I've been a little stressed lately about some things going on and just really haven't felt like blogging. Hopefully soon, I will feel better and get back into the blogging world on a regular basis!

I read on someone's blog the other day the following quote: "May you always be overwhelmed by the Grace of God rather than by the cares of life." I'm trying really hard to keep this in my mind on bad days when I feel so overwhelmed that I can't seem to take a deep breath.

This past weekend there was a break from rain just long enough for me to FINALLY get some flowers planted and get our patio cleaned up! I have been wanting to do this for a couple of months, but when I had time it has been raining and if it hasn't rained I was too busy to get to it! This afternoon when I got home, I just sat at the patio table and watched the dogs play! I could sit out there all day every day and be in heaven! (No phone calls, no e-mails, no answering questions, etc, etc, etc)

As you can tell by this video, the dogs enjoy the backyard even more than I do! You can also see that Minnie is the "big" dog in our house! She and Sam play like this all the time! You can see Buster in the background chewing on a ball. That is what he does all the time...ignores the other two. If you've ever met Buster, you are so not shocked by this!

Other randomness, you all know how much I love monogramming! Last week, I found these two WONDERFUL items at Kirklands (ON SALE)! This nightlight (with an A) is now plugged up in the hallway. Rob hates any lights being on while he sleeps and he says this crimson colored nightlight with an "A" on it resembles Bama (and we all know he's an Auburn fan). However, as you can see it's plugged up so who won? YES, of course I did!

I also found this AWESOME welcome mat (and YES it is monogrammed)! It looks great at our front door.

I will try to do a better job blogging, honest! 'Til next time, have a great end of the week and weekend!

Uppercase Living

Check out my newest project! I ordered an etched "A" from Uppercase Living. If you do not know about Uppercase Living, you should check it out! It's basically a way to personalize items AND your home. If we weren't considering selling our house, I would have so many of their items on my walls. I have a big glass "canister type thing" that I keep 100-calorie snacks in. It is the perfect size and now with my monogram on it, it is even more perfect! :) Adding the "A" makes it look like it is some sort of expensive decoration and it is SO not! I did buy another item this time but I haven't figured out exactly what I'm going to do with it yet so check back soon!

Happy Birthday Jacob!

April 24, 1988 was one of the best days of my life. On that day at the age of 7, I got what I had been asking God for most of my little, young life. For 7 years I had been begging Mom and Dad for a little brother or sister and finally I had gotten what I had wished for. He was the cutest, sweetest baby I had ever seen (granted at the age of 7, I hadn't been around too many babies). Bless his heart - he kind of grew up with 2 moms - our mom and ME! I tortured him when he was little. I would MAKE him sit in a school desk as I read story after story to him and all of my stuffed animals. Then, I would write questions on my monogrammed chalkboard (I know you guys are all shocked that I had a monogrammed chalkboard). Needless to say, he has EXCELLENT reading comprehension skills! HA!

Jacob and I have always been close and I am so blessed to have such a sweet and tenderhearted brother who would move mountains for me if I needed them moved! He is an awesome person and I love him more than I can ever tell him and I cannot imagine how our family would have been without him. I'm definitely glad I begged for a sibling! :)

I love you Jacob and Happy 21st Birthday!

This is a picture of us and the way we always sat in the recliner. I found this picture when I was cleaning out some keepsakes and scanned it in. How cute are we (even though my ribbon is all crazy on my head)

This is a picture from Christmas day at my parents' house.

Wordless Wednesday *

* I heart Etsy.com!! Etsy is fast becoming one of my favorite websites. I love looking at all of the crafty things that people are coming up with, including this adorable crocheted flower that I ordered for Minnie. I just got it today and I haven't had a chance to find a collar to match it so I just put it on her collar she already has. How adorable is this flower?? Of course, she can't stand it but I don't care....because sometimes fashion is a pain! HA! She doesn't really understand "stay" yet so getting her to be still for a picture is a hard task! Enjoy the pics and how cute my "little girl" is! ;) (So much for WORDLESS Wednesday...you guys know I can't just leave it with a picture)

Saltimbanco

Rob and I LOVE Cirque du Soleil! Last night we went with my parents and brother to see Saltimbanco which was here in Huntsville. It was a very fun and colorful show and their were lots of acrobatics which I wasn't really expecting since it is a traveling show. If you have never seen a Cirque du Soleil show, just check one out if you have the chance. Once you've seen one, you will want to see them all! I would pay money to see them all again, that's how great they are.

Saltimbanco is the 7th Cirque show that we have seen! So far we have seen O, Love, KA, Mystere (all in Las Vegas), La Nouba (Disney World), Delerium (traveling show we saw in Birmingham a few years ago), and now Saltimbanco. Rob and I are hooked and can't wait for the next one!

I didn't take any pictures of the night (bad blogger, I know). Anyway, here are a few images courtesy of cirquedusoleil.com.
